Itinerary
Welcome to Ulaanbaatar and city tour
We will be waiting for you at the airport of trainstation. You will be transferred to your hotel. We will agree on time to pick you up for city tour.
Guided walking city tour will introduce you to the highlights of the city: the central city square with a grand statue of Genghis Khan and Sukhbaatar statue, the Museum of National History, then one of two museums Choijin Lama temple or the Fine Arts Zanabazar Museum.
In the evening at 6 p.m you will be brought to watch a show of traditional music, throat singing and contortion. After the show a welcome dinner is set for you.
Gorkhi Terelj National Park via Chingges Khaan`s statue
In the morning we will pick you up at your hotel and drive to today’s destination Gorkhi Terelj National Park. On the way, we will stop at the grand statue of Chingges Khaan stand tall at approximately 54km from the capital city. You will visit the museum which has exhibitions associated with the Bronze age and Xiongnu period and the 13-14th centuries.
Then we will continue our trip to Gorkhi Terelj National Park which is the closest national park to Mongolia’s capital city Ulaanbaatar, this beautiful park offers up a spectacular adventure for mountain biking, horse trekking and hiking. Have lunch and dinner at ger camp and stay overnight.
Trip to Khustai National Park where Przewalski's horses live
Freshen up and we will go to The Khustai National Park today. Khustai national park covers 506km² specially protected area inhabiting the Takhi (Przewalski's horse) which are considered to be the only species of wild horse in the world. These horses were declared extinct until it was reintroduced in 1992 in the reserve with support from the Government of the Royal Kingdom of the Netherlands. The park is home to about numerous species of flora and fauna. We will spend the day keeping an eye out for deers, takhis, marmots and many more inhabitants of the reserve and stay the night in the ger camp.
Visit Karakorum town where Erdenezuu monastery stand surrounded with 108 stupas
Today we will arrive in Kharkhorin or Karakorum which was once the capital of the Mongol Empire founded in the early 13th century by the 2nd son of Genghis Khan.
You will be given a detailed explanation about the buddhism in Mongolia and daily lives of the buddhist monks during "A tea with a monk'' session during the trip.
The main attraction here is the monastery museum of Erdene Zuu, one of the earliest Buddhist monasteries that survived the anti-religion campaign in the 1930s. It was established in the 16th century by a Mongol khan in hopes of making Buddhism the main religion. Take a glance at the surviving artifacts while strolling within peaceful premises of the monastery.
After lunch we will visit the Kharkhorin museum displaying rare archaelogical findings and learn more about the history this land holds. Then we head to a ger camp and stay the night after dinner.
Back to Ulaanbaatar
Marking the end of our journey we will head back to Ulaanbaatar. Lunch will be served on the way and you will stay in a hotel in the city.
