Monastery Stay

Zuun Khuree Dashchoiling Monastery is comprised of the renovated temples from Erkhem Toiny Aimag and Vangai Aimag. These are the only two temples in Ulaanbaatar which remain from Zuun Khuree’s original thirty Aimags. These thirty Aimags were the main part of the Niĭslel Khüree (Capital Center) during the height of Mongolian Buddhism. After the end of Sovietism, Dashchoiling Monastery reopened its doors and recommenced daily religious ceremonial activities due to the instigation and efforts of Great Khamba Lama Ch.Dambajav and other senior monks. The temple was reopened on July 26, 1990, which is the 4th day of auspices, according to the lunar calendar in the Year of White Horse. Former Indian Ambassador H.E. Kushok Bakula Rinpoche named the renovated Monastery “Dashichoiling,” the literal meaning being “The Auspicious Land of Dharma.”
