Glimpse of Gobi for 3 days

Tour Description

For those who want to fee the Gobi shortly. Many of us imagine the Gobi desert as a burning hot land with endless sand dunes where you could occasionally see some cactuses, camels or lizards. However, in reality, the Gobi semi desert of Mongolia is an unique ecosystem consisting of steppes, mountains and a vast number of wildlife and vegetation. It is the 5th largest desert in the world and the site where the first dinosaur fossils were found. In this tour, take a glimpse of Gobi, travelling through the highlights this marvelous land has to offer. This includes Tsagaan Suvarga (white stupa), Sum Khukh Burd- ruins of ancient temple, Del Mountain featuring petroglyphs and Baga Gazar rocky formations.

Feel Gobi with us without taking too much time.

You will meet your guide and driver at the appointed time and location, then head off to the Gobi. Approximately 440km through the pristine nature we will arrive in Tsagaan Suvarga or White Stupa, named by locals as it resembles stupas;  a colorful rocky formation about 30-60m high and 400m long. It was once bottom of ocean so that marine fossils were found. It appears similar to the Grand Canyon located in the US. You can hike up and down along the trails. Then we go back to camp for dinner and stay overnight.

Mongolia is a country rich in petroglyphs - ancient engravings or carvings on rocks that date back to ancient times. Today we will be travelling to the petroglyphic complex of Del Mountain. It is located in 25 km from Tsagaan Suvarga. You will enjoy seeing the petroglyphs, numerous different types of symbols, humans and animals such as Ibex, camels, horse riders, etc.

After lunch, we go to Sum Khukh Burd. You will see it is an oasis amidst the desert where you can visit the ruins of a stone castle built with initiative by a son of a Tibetan lord around 16 to 17th century. However, he was sent back to his country before completion leaving the temple structure without a roof and the temple was called ''temple without roof'' since then. We will visit the site and take photos at sunset.

We go to the Baga Gazar camp for dinner and stay the night.

It is an astonishing granite formation that looks like a pile of rocks and boulders arranged in a unique form. Erosion of over the long period made the rocks look polished. You will have a chance to wander around in this rocky maze and take unique photos. We will have lunch back at the camp. Our journey ends here and we head back to Ulaanbaatar.
